Speech, Langage Communications Needs Team (SLCT)
The Speech, Language and Communication Team (SLCT) provide support to children and young people and offer advice and guidance to primary and secondary schools across Swansea.
Who works in the team?
The team is made up of specialist teachers and specialist teaching assistants for speech, language and communication needs and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
How will they support my child / young person?
The team can come into school and support your child / young person and they can also refer to a therapy service if appropriate.
They offer advice and guidance to schools on ways they can support children / young people with speech, language and communication difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
How does my child / young person access the team?
You will need to speak to your child / young person's class teacher or Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo). They will be able to listen to your concerns and work out next steps.
Referrals for the SLCT for pre-school children are made through the pre-school pathway which is co-ordinated by the Early Years Additional Learning Needs Lead Officer (EY ALNLO).
