Welcome to Year 6 Letter

Welcome to Year 6
September 2024

Here’s some information about this term:

Information:
This term, our topic will be…‘Conflict and Resolution’
 

Reading – We ask that the children bring their books and their reading records to school every day please.
Snack- Your child will be allowed to bring in a healthy snack for playtimes and a bottle of water to keep in class.


Forest School
Mr Cresser - First session will be 6/9/24. This will continue for Mr Cresser’s class every Friday for the first half term.
Miss D Thomas and Mrs E Rees-Evans – First session will be Friday 8/11/24. This will continue for Miss Thomas and Mrs Rees-Evans’s class every Friday, of the second half term. They will also need to bring into school a pair of wellies and change of appropriate clothing to wear to the forest.


PE
PE will be on a Tuesday afternoon. Your child can either come to school wearing their P.E kits, or bring their kits with them, to change into. Can this consist of shorts/jogging bottoms/leggings, a t-shirt, zip up hoodie/jacket and trainers.

 

Parent’s Evening:
This term, Parent’s Evening will be held on the week commencing Monday 6th November. Details and invitations for individual classes will be sent out prior to half-term via Parentmail.


Meet the Teacher:

We will be holding our ‘Meet the Teacher’ session on Thursday 12th September at 4pm in the Year 6 Classrooms. We will be discussing expectations for the year and important information about our weekly routine, that is not discussed in this letter.


 

Career Pathways:

As part of Careers Pathways and the New Curriculum, we are looking for parents to come in and talk to children about their careers. If you are interested, please speak to your child’s class teacher during ‘Meet the Teacher’.

 

Twitter:

We tweet lots of pictures of our children participating in class and extra curricular activities.

 

Bug Club:

Bug Club is used so the children have access to as many books as they like at home. Their login details remain the same as last year.
